Sandblast signs by Sign-GrafX are a beautiful cost-saving alternative to hand-carved signs. A sandblast sign usually shows raised flat-surface lettering on an eroded wood-grain background. This background is painted a dark color or stained to a natural wood-grain. Lettering can be painted a light color or gold-leafed for contrast and maximum eye-appeal. Sandblast signs are traditionally made of select, laminated redwood. Newer techniques also use special foam plastics eroded with solvents to simulate a wood-grain finish. The plastic signs are not as durable as solid wood, but can be less expensive and just as attractive when properly installed. The more rustic look of sandblasting can also be used to good effect when combined with hand carving and/or machine routing, particularly as a landscaping element in rough boulders or finished stones. These can be very effective enduring displays for a proud business or family estate identification. |
