Dimensional Letter Signs

Dimensional letters (sometimes called formed or cutout letters) are usually made from solid metal or plastic, sometimes from foam plastic or wood, mounted one-by-one on a wall or some other prepared background.

They are "dimensional" letters because they have visual 3-dimensional thickness or depth. The thickness can vary from 1/8 inch to half a foot or more, and they can be almost any size. Dimensional letters can be cast in a mold from molten plastic or metal, or cut and machine shaped out of sheet foam, metal, plastic or plywood. They can be painted, coated, laminated, gold-leafed, polished or otherwise finished to create almost any look. Dimensional letters can be a relatively inexpensive way to create a high-impact sign, if you already have a usable background. Installations (letter-by-letter) are, however, more costly than with a simple one-piece sign.
