Carved & Gold Leaf Signs

Carved signs require a great deal of craftmanship. The staff at Sign-GrafX Group is skilled in woodworking and finishing.

We carve and sculpt in a variety of natural materials, including mahogany, redwood, and the less-durable softwoods. We usually assemble wood signs by glue-laminating planks, shaping the sign panel to your custom specifications. We then hand-carve and/or machine-rout your lettering and decorative bas-relief graphics. Finally, we apply several coats of paint and/or gold-leaf to create the most classic and elegant three-dimensional signs.

Recently, PVC plastics have become a very popular alternative to wood for carved signs. PVC does not have several disadvantages of natural wood: it is usually less expensive, lasts longer, and requires less maintenance. Unless your sign must show a natural wood grain stained finish, we recommend you consider PVC material as an option.
